Mark Carnegie, BA and a BSc (Hons)

Mark has more than 30 years’ experience as an entrepreneur, investor and corporate adviser in New York, London and Sydney.  He was a principal of Carnegie, Wylie & Company before the acquisition of that business by Lazard Limited and was previously the CEO of Lazard Australia Private Equity Pty Ltd (formerly LCW Private Equity Pty Ltd), Lazard's Australian private equity business. Mark established M.H. Carnegie & Co. Pty Ltd in 2010, a venture capital and private equity firm.  Mark is also a Director of Macquarie Radio Network Ltd, Chandler Macleod Group Limited and a large number of private companies.

Mark was appointed Non-Executive Director of Strike Energy on 9 August 2013.

Managing Director
David Wrench B Eng (Mining) Hons

Mr Wrench graduated with a Bachelor of Engineering (Mining) from the University of Sydney. He has worked in Australia and North America with Macquarie Bank, Credit Suisse and Chase Manhattan Bank, gaining commercial experience in the precious metals, base metals and energy market segments. David was a co-founder and Director of coal seam gas pioneer CH4 Gas Limited and has been a Director of a number of private resource companies.

David was appointed to the Board on 29 October 1998 and was appointed Managing Director of the company in October 2011.

Tim Clifton BSc (Hons)

Mr Clifton has over 40 years mining and corporate experience as a geologist and company director.

Mr Clifton has a long association with the company having held the position of Non-Executive Chairman of Strike Energy prior to its listing in June 2004. Tim was appointed to the Board on 13 August 2008 and appointed Chairman on 19 August 2010.

Simon Ashton B Sc (Hons) M Sc MBA

Mr Ashton has over 30 years experience in the Australian and international petroleum and resources industries.  He spent over 20 years with WMC Limited (WMC) holding various positions in the nickel, coal and petroleum divisions. Amongst other things, Simon established WMC's USA petroleum subsidiary, Greenhill Petroleum, where he served as Senior Vice President in Houston, Texas.

Simon co-founded Strike Energy Limited in 1997 and served as Managing Director until 30 September 2011.

Tim Goyder

Tim has over 30 years experience in the natural resources industry. He has been involved in the formation and management of a number of publicly listed companies and is currently Chairman of Chalice Gold Mines Limited and Liontown Resources Limited, and a Director of Uranium Equities Limited. 

Tim was appointed a Director on 19 August 2010.

David L Baker BA, LL.B (Hons)

David has extensive experience in structured debt, utility financing, project finance and mergers and acquisitions as an adviser, lender and principal. Originally trained as a banking and finance lawyer with a major Australian legal firm in Sydney and Singapore, he has held banking and resource industry leadership positions and was an Executive Director of Gryphon Partners, a boutique corporate advisory house focused on the resources industry and subsequently a senior executive in the resources team at Standard Chartered Bank, after the acquisition of Gryphon by SCB in 2011. David now conducts his own corporate advisory business and, in that capacity, provides consulting services to Strike Energy.

David was appointed as a Non-Executive Director of Strike Energy on 11 August 2013.

Ben Thomas, B Sc (Petroleum Engineering)

Ben Thomas joined Strike in mid-2010 and presently serves as the Company’s President of US Operations.

Prior to joining Strike, Ben has over 40 years upstream petroleum sector experience, including management, engineering and marketing roles with Mobil Oil Corporation, Superior Oil Company, Mark Producing, Edisto Resources and Hall-Houston Oil Company.

General Manager - Cooper Basin
Chris Thompson

Chris Thompson has 20 years of experience in the oil and gas industry with qualifications in both geology and reservoir engineering. 

Commencing work at Oil Company of Australia in 1992, Chris completed a Grad. Dip in Reservoir Evaluation and Management in 1994 and subsequently worked as a reservoir engineer for Schlumberger from 1995 to 1997. After joining Oil Search in 1997 Chris’ responsibilities grew to include reserves, field development planning and production for various fields in Papua New Guinea.

Chris joined Novus Petroleum in 2002 as Senior Reservoir Engineer and was transferred to the USA in 2003 where he worked on fields offshore Gulf of Mexico and onshore Louisiana and Texas. Chris continued to work in the USA at Leed Petroleum from 2006 as Business Development Manager with technical, commercial and managerial responsibilities prior returning to Australia in 2010 as Principal Petroleum Engineer at Origin Energy where he built Origin’s upstream division portfolio planning and ranking system.

Chris joined Strike in September 2012 and is responsible for overseeing all aspects of Strike’s Cooper Basin assets.
